This is unbelievable. Another great man to pass this week.  He will be missed as well.

He won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in the 1955 film, 'Marty', a wonderful little film that really touches my heart. If you've never seen it, I highly recommended seeking it out. Made for a pittance, it beat out major studio blockbusters, also winning Best Picture and Best Director awards. Also stars Frank 'Sgt. Carter' Sutton.

He has always been a favorite of mine - just watched "Bad Day At Black Rock" last week!  And Keevy, I agree with you on "Marty", it's a really wonderful picture. Borgnine kinda got typecast as a heavy, but the man really could act!

'Bad Day At Black Rock'- love that movie! I use one of  Borgnine's lines from that film frequently- "Mess with me and I'll kick a lung outta' ya'." Barney would have been proud of how the one armed Spencer Tracy took care of him with a couple of well placed Judo chops . Made a weapon out of his whole body.

"I'm thinking Andy probably found a nice diner to eat at several nights a week.  And for some reason I imagine he probably cooks for Helen from time to time!"

"I'm guessing that frozen-dinner thing.  Hard to picture Helen sitting around the house eating bon-bons or donning an apron and slaving over a hot stove.  Good thing Andy likes those frozen dinners!"
