I watched the MASH episode last night where George Lindsey plays an obnoxious surgeon.  He gets his comeuppance when he rides Col. Potter's mare, Sophie, without permission.  This is basically Goober with an attitude!

Anybody else see this ep?

That just goes to show you, Thels'....

...  what happens in Korea, stays in Korea!

Too bad, too... had Dr.Goob' retained that "party & drink till dawn wildman" way of his, he never would have needed any coaching from Barney in the art of love in trying to woo Lydia.

So true, Al.  Wonder if Goob and Lydia had a long-lasting relationship.  Did we ever hear any more about them as a twosome?

I think their relationship ran its course and that was that.  I do believe Lydia left town if I recollect right....

... her loss, Goober's gain. After all, he and the delightful Flora became a couple a few years afterwards.

Boy!  Flora was certainly different from Lydia, wasn't she?  While Lydia was the retiring type, Flora was a take-charge gal.  Ole Goob fell hard for her, though, didn't he?

Cupid zinged Goob' with about a dozen arrows when it came to Flora. You know it was love because Flora would give Goober extra big portions when he came in the diner for a hot plate lunch. Many a time I would see Goob' sitting at the counter with three big ol' slabs of meatloaf and a mountain of mashed spuds on his plate.

She'd only give me a thin slice of loaf and a dollop of taters. >:-(

Sorry about you getting short-changed at the diner, Al.  But "love will find a way," you know, even if it's through a mound of smashed taters!

Flora looked like she might have had a meal or two at the diner herself, didn't she?  She was a good, stout girl.  Just think about how well she managed at Wally's while Goober was gone.  Almost too well, in fact.

Wonder if she and Goob ever made it to the altar?

I have no idea if she even made it to or was mentioned in Mayberry RFD and Return To Mayberry, Thels'!!

Trained Noticers: Was there ever a mention of Flora (and what happened with her character) in Mayberry RFD and Return To Mayberry??

The thought of Goober and Flora being married and with kids gives me a nice feeling inside. Yep!!

The last time that Goober & Flora were seen to be dating was in "Goober's Replacement" (season 6).

Flora only made two appearances after that, with no mention of Goober... "Emmett's Anniversary" (season 8) and "Emmett's Retirement" (RFD season 1).

Throughout RFD, Goober dates several girls, but no one more than once, and not Flora.

In RETURN TO MAYBERRY (1986), there's no mention of Flora, or [Gomer's] Lou Ann Poovie.  Although Jim and George reportedly had additional scenes for that TV movie which did not make it to the finished cut, I don't believe the girls were mentioned at all.  I guess any happily-ever-after for the cousins is left to our imagination.

Thanx, Brent!

Sure do appreciate the 411!

Can't say I blame him. Ring-a-ding-ding!

One of my favorite episodes of M*A*S*H*.

"I'm guessing that frozen-dinner thing.  Hard to picture Helen sitting around the house eating bon-bons or donning an apron and slaving over a hot stove.  Good thing Andy likes those frozen dinners!"
