Betty Lynn and Jim Nabors is all I can think of that remain from the main characters...a few of the Darlings are still around.

I'm in radio and had the pleasure of meeting Don Knotts (and Tim Conway) backstage before a comedy performance in the 90s.  Unfortunately, Don was pretty advanced in age, and appeared just on the verge of getting frail.  He was quiet, which matches reports of what he was like in person, as opposed to Tim Conway who was vibrant and joking around.  Still, I wasn't disappointed to meet a guy I consider a comedy legend.

I got to have lunch with Jim Nabors.  He is outgoing, and likes to tell stories, very engaging, and everything you'd want him to be.  One thing...I mentioned how much I loved seeing him on screen at the same time as Don Knotts on TAGs, and he immediately brought up the fact that Gomer Pyle had higher ratings than TAGs in the 60's.  He wasn't ugly about it, it just struck me that maybe he might have been a little miffed that TAGS has such a cult following, while Gomer Pyle USMC isn't as fondly remembered.

No biggie, he was a great guy.

I've never been to Mayberry Days...anyone met Betty Lynn?  I've heard she enjoys her fame in Mt. Airy.

and the holy grail....anyone meet Andy?
