For those who never heard before, fan fiction is the idea of taking a premise or situation of a show and developing sort of a "new episode," usually complete with familiar characters and characteristics of the real show. This has been wildly popular on the internet, and even included our own beloved TAGS, to some degree.

Wouldn't it be fun to have a thread for creating a loose fan fiction episode (or more) of TAGS right here in the iMayberry Community?

We could start with suggestions for an episode theme and/or title —

Something like Cousin Virgil returning and ending up as acting-Sheriff Barney's deputy when Andy becomes ill or is called away suddenly, and the mayhem that ensues...

-or-

Ellie returns in the midst of Andy and Helen's courtship to bury Uncle Fred and has to decide between selling the business and moving on or staying on and taking it (and, perhaps, Andy) over...

Whaddya think? :)

I remember in various sites that had TAGS fan fiction just how wild and off the wall things got. - stuff like alternate universes (Earth 2) and Bizarro versions of Andy and Barney (imperfect doubles, like Superman's Bizarro).

One storyline had an interesting plot line (didn't pan out in the long run, tho'...) Mayberry was home to an Air Force ICBM field.... even had a missile silo just down the road from Wally's Fillin' Station!

Jeff. I have written 3 or 4 Fan Fiction episodes. They are on the Andy Griffith Rerrun watchers club site. Along with 6 or so other stories from other writers. It is fun to write them but takes more work than you might think .

The common theme for most of my stories was...things I would have liked to seen
So there was one about basketball. One about Opie,s Mom. And one about a second Christmas episode. There was also one about one of our own visiting Mayberry.

I'm sending this via iPad. But later I can supply a link to that site if wanted

I'd enjoy participating in some fan fiction. I've written one that I posted on a site and have another on a disc somewhere that I need to finish.
Are there blogs here that stories can be posted to?

Yes, there are, but only on the desktop version of the site (mobile site is limited to a few functions). It's in the dark gray menu bar beneath the site banner.

Thanks, Jeff, a desktop is what I have so that'll work. I'll give it a look.

I noticed the Blog button is now missing from that toolbar. I wonder what's up with that.

Emmett will get around to fixin' that in due time, Howard. Right now he's dealing with a fix-it backlog of two waffle irons, four desk lamps, three steam irons, and one desk top drinking bird.

Thanks, Albert. Sounds like Emmett needs to hire an assistant, or get a bigger hammer.
I remember having one or two of those drinking birds way back in my youth. I wonder what happened to them.

I wrote a whole book about about Andy and Barney growing up in the 30s. Don't figure I can do anything with it since it is is fan fiction. Just a labor of love, anyway.
