I don't know if people still read this forum, but to me this is a big deal.  I think Betty Lynn is the last resident of Mayberry still with us.  I had lunch with Jim years ago in Myrtle Beach, and he couldn't have been nicer...telling funny stories about Carol Burnett and such.  RIP Mr. Nabors...the moments you had on screen with Don Knotts were my favorite parts of the show.

Jim Nabors, who gave popular culture its most enduring image of a wide-eyed, good-natured if none too bright hayseed in a character whose very name – Gomer Pyle – would become synonymous with lovable rube, died Thursday in Hawaii. He was 87.

RIP Gomer!  (I've missed him at Indy in May for a few years also.)

Sha-zam

R.I.P.  Gomer

RIP

Oh that picture speaks a thousand words.  One of the very funniest episodes.

Jim Nabors delivered his lines so well some of them have become household words or phrases for us.

Who can look under a shed and not say, "There's spiders under there!"  We can't describe a woman we like without saying, "She's nice, she's real nice."  I can't even make a bed with a big swoop of the covers without going into a few bars of, "No-'Count Mule."

Rest in peace,  Gomer, I'm so glad you had such a good long run, wish it could have been even longer.

I just discovered this site so I'm not familiar with the protocol but for what it's worth I too loved Gomer Pyle and all he brought to the show.  please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Elinor Donahue still with us? She played Elly Walker for a short time.  Also, I pretty sure Gomer created the the now popular word "Shazam".   It's funny how people react to that word when I've used to express an "Oh my God"situation.   RIP Gomer, til we meet in that great place in heaven called Mayberry.
