Who was funnier, Mayor Pike or Stoner? I say Stoner on the episode where the governor came to visit. Or what about Pike cutting down the tree for the "big time motion picture"?

I like the conversation on the phone with Stoner and the governor after Barney ticketed the governor's car! Yep, they were old buddies. That's S-T-O-N-E-R!
I think Mayor Stoner improved a lot in Mayberry Band, Loaded Goat, Bed Jacket, & Barney & the Governor (like Susan mentioned), but then he turned into a jerk again in Rafe Hollister Sings. I guess I liked our little fat Mayor Pike better, though.
I thought Parley Baer did a very funny job playing a beaten down husband in Bewitched, where his wife was played by Sara Seegar from The Andy Griffith Show also. Then he turned into a Mayor Stoner type when Endora put a spell on everybody to tell the truth.
I'm a Pike man. There was a another mayor of Mayberry mentioned in the series. Anyone know his name?
from my favorite episode " Opie's Charity ".........Mayor Jenkins............gave the eulogy at Tom Sewell's funeral .
Correct, good job, Larry. You win a dozen canning jars (don't over expect though, the lids are a little scratched.)
I was hoping for a bed jacket .
My vote is for Mayor Pike. He had the kind of voice that makes just about everything he said sound funny. And he just looks like politician without a clue. Great typecasting. Too bad Dick Elliot died so suddenly. I think he would have gone on to become a long time cast member of the show.
According to Floyd, Pike was a "maybe-man" all the way.
