In the episode "The Rumor", Aunt Bee, Barney and Thelma Lou were discussing the menu and made the comment that James Maysfield had 3 meatballs in his macinaw (sp?) pocket when he went home. What on earth is a macinaw pocket??

I believe it's a pocket in a Macinaw jacket. Strange place to keep meatballs though!

Joe's on the right track. Here's what I found on Wikipedia:

Mackinaw Cloth

Thanks, guys!  I feel better now!  That was one of my favorite episodes.  Gomer trying to "hoot" with his mouth full

of sandwich!!

And that panicked look on his face!

Wool - yuck!  I might be missing something other than it being warm, but how could everybody stand wearing wool back then?  It doesn't even seem cheap from what I've seen.  He might have stuck those meatballs in there to give him an excuse to throw the jacket out.

No offense to anybody that likes wool, but the way.  I just always thought I felt like I was sweating and itching in the cold with it on.

I also have it on good authority, that a macinaw pocket is the exact opposite of a wanicam pocket.

You must be one of them joke crackin' people Barney was talkin' 'bout!

Is that the episode where they all discuss how bad somebody's meatballs are?  I have only a vague memory...

I think so - where Barney saw Andy and Helen kiss in the jewelry store, set up a big party, and remodeled Andy's bedroom to be kissy lookin'.  She brought the meatballs to the party anyway and said something like, "I know how everybody loves my meatballs."

That's correct!!  You have won the side-by-side refrigerator freezer!!!

Don't tell Clara.  I don't want to have to sell it!
