This was a two page spread from the Sept. 24th fall preview issue of TV Guide This picture showed all the new shows that were going to be on on Monday night that season. As you can see the only one left standing after all these years is the Andy Griffith Show!.I did notice however that # 12 - Enid. Markey- later went on to Mayberry fame as one of the "Hootch Making Sisters"

Wow!  I've never even heard of those other shows.  Of course, I was born in 1964, that could explain some of it...:)

I'm a little older than you, I vaguely remember Surfside Six. Several of the others I heard or read about but never saw them.

Enid Markey was 'Mrs. Mendlebright' in "Up in Barney's Room."

Also in a 2nd season episode of USMC as Gomer's grandmother in "Grandma Pyle, Fortune Teller."

Boy, do I feel stupid!  Of course it's Mrs.Mendlebright.

Ed:  You're a TREASURE (as Big Maude said to Barney) for posting that cover!

I thought it was kind of interesting that Andy posed wearing a gun.

So cool, thanks Ed!

The series Enid Markey was appearing in here was called Bringing Up Buddy (1960–1961). It only lasted that one season. This has been mentioned before, but for those who missed it, she was also the first Jane in the the silent Tarzan films, seen below in 1918.

Barn:  "I love you, Mrs. Mendlebright."

Classic Lines: They're Getting Older AND Better!

I think we may have done something like this before but it's always fun to revisit some of the classic lines from TAGS.  Those immortal words that live on in the hearts and funny bones of us fans are definitely worth remembering.  Let's list some…See More
