Let's think of various scenarios that didn't happen but could've.  Like if Barney hadn't dated Thelma Lou, who would have been his "nice girl"?  If Gomer hadn't worked at Wally's, where would he have worked.  If Aunt Bee hadn't been a good cook, what would she have put on the table?  Anything is possible.  WHAT IF:

Ernest T. Bass had graduated from Harvard and come back to Mayberry for a visit.  Wonder how Miss-es Wi-lee would have received him then?  For that matter, would he and Barney have been friends?

If Barney had stayed in Mayberry, maybe he would have avoided the colossal blunder of buying that ugly old Edsel! You know - the '60 model with the non-existent '61 grille?

He sure had a knack for picking the finer automobiles!

There would have been three of four more good seasons of TAGS.
