Mayberry Replicas

Hello replica owners, and those that enjoy looking at them!

I've created an album of Mayberry Patrol Car Replicas that I think you'll enjoy looking through. (Note: Visit the album to see owner and other information about the cars.)

I'll be adding more photos to the album so if you have a replica upload a photo and I'll add it to the album so others can view it.  I've been tagging the car photos as "patrol car replicas" to make them easier to search for.

Here are a few stories related to the Mayberry Squad Car Rendezvous which was held in Bradford, Ohio during the mid 1990's.

We now have the Mayberry Squad Car Nationals (since 2001) where owners of Mayberry replicas can show off their cars.

I received an invitation to take my squad car to a weekend car show at an upscale resort in northern Wisconsin in May.  They will be paying our expenses for the weekend to come and the squad car will be the featured car with its picture being used for all their publicity.  There will also be a Greet and Meet session.  Should be a great time to share my love of Mayberry.

Hey Tom, thanks for the feedback.  I bought a very good marine battery too and that seemed to help.  I only had one parade after I installed it and had no problems, so I am hoping that will take care of the problem.

Ken:  I solved that problem with a new HD marine battery from NAPA (About $70.00).  Also I've learned to not run my headlights (only parking lights) in parades and rev the engine whenever the parade stops or I'm coasting downhill.  I hope this helps.

Hey, you ought to fly down to Greenville, SC and attend out Mayberry Festival in Westminster.  Would love to have you.

I have had issues with my battery going dead when I run my light and siren during long parades.  Wondering if anyone else has this problem and what you may have done about it.  Our local police have a second battery unit in their trunk that operates their lights and siren to avoid this problem.  I did buy a heavy duty marine battery for the car that is designed to run electrical accessories as well as for starting purposes.  This seems to be helping.  I have started carrying an extra battery and cables with me for parades.

I would love to hear from other squad car owners as to how your local police departments respond.  Living in a city of 65,000 our police and sheriff departments are very indifferent to my car.  I get no comments at all from the deputies and officers.  In fact I live two houses from a sheriff deputy and he has yet to even come look at it.  I have had police officers walk right past it at car shows and not even look at it.

Ken,

I wish I got to use mine as much as you do yours. It's great that you get to use it so much and share it with others. Folks do get a kick out of seeing them.

This past summer was my first as a squad car owner.  We did eleven parades and twenty car shows.  Came home with seven trophies and some other nice prizes.  Looking forward to a busy and fun 2012 summer.  Season for the squad car is rather short here in the north country.  It is stored away from home six months of the year.
