In the 6th Season on Disc 2 "The Taylors in Hollywood" this was the main entrance to what was then Desilu/Cahuenga Studios. This view was taken in June 2012 and you can see the small guard shack has changed and now has a wall with deco glass. This was later changed to Ren Mar Studios and now is called Red Studios. This was where Andy, Opie and Aunt Bee entered the studio and met the guard.

Hey and Twilight Zone fans here? I was just reviewing my video that I took around this studio (Desilu/Cahuenga) and I noticed that the intersection on the north end is Caheunga and Willougby. Remeber the episode in Twilight Zone where the character kept taking the train to Willoughby? Hmmmm?? What do you think?
Hey Brent, On this tour we did not go to the town square, but on my last tour there in 2006, we did. This time we did the NY streets, as spent some time visiting a couple of soundstages, on one stage we visited the set of the TV Show "The Mentalist" and then we visited another set for a sitcom, I think it was for "The Big Bang Theory" Seems like one of these was on the old soundstage that was used for my favorite old WB Westerns. It was a little different tour than the last one, but very nice. We also did the new "VIP Tour" at Paramount, it was great! Got to tour a lot of the old Parmount lot compared to the last time there when we did not even go over on that side. It included a tour of the sign department and the Paramount achives which had lots of costumes and propson display that tour last about four hours including lunch in which was served on the set of Dr. Phil on his soundstage. The last time at Parmount in 2006 we did the regular tour but it was also very good. We did not visit the Ranch Backlot nor was it mentioned as being available, but last time there in 2006 we did visit the Town Square with the Gazebo and they told us that was where the Dukes was filmed and they showed us Boss Hoggs house.
Comment by Brent Seguine on July 1, 2012 at 3:28pm WB varies the attractions from tour-to-tour. Did they take you to the southeast corner of the backlot, with the townsquare, the smalltown storefronts, the houses, etc. are? That was "Mayberry" for RFD's 3rd season (also used for downtown "Hazzard" on DUKES).
Last I heard, WB's Ranch backlot (4 blocks north of Warner Bros., on Hollywood Way) is still not available for tours. That still the case? Sam Jones' house facade (aka the Waltons' house) sits there.
Thanks Brent, that is an interesting piece of information. Last week we toured Warner Brothers, Paramount, and Universal in LA, it was an exciting experience. I really get into the things behind the camera so to speak!
Comment by Brent Seguine on July 1, 2012 at 9:26am fyi - 2012's Oscar-winning THE ARTIST (2011) was filmed here. The studio (redressed for the late 1920s) is visible in several scenes, and is briefly shown/discussed in the DVD's bonus feature about location shooting.
Love the studio pics!
