"The “centennial” reference comes in the opening scene of the episode and in my opinion is a top tier exchange among Andy, Barney, and Opie where Andy and Barney teach Opie about what the word “centennial” means. Comes from…"

"I agree with you, Bern. I've listened to Helen Crump address her class as Mayberryittes but have seen it spelled Mayberrite. I definitely prefer the former."

"Thank you Mayor. I have read that article several times. It is interesting but I'm still trying to figure out which episode has the reference to Lord Mayberry. I can't believe I have overlooked this tidbit."

Early Mayberry Town History

Greetings Mayberryites - Looking for assistance on a Mayberry research project and need help filling in some blanks. I have been visiting and re-visiting virtually every online Mayberry resource including books looking for information about the early years of Mayberry. There is little that describes the early years.I have been able to obtain the following: The "Battle of Mayberry" was in May 1762. The town was burned down in 1870 and there was a financial crisis in 1874. Perhaps I have…See More

Can you share a short bio with us so that we can get to know you better?
I have been a lifelong fan of TAGS and RFD. I am recently retired after 40 years in the fire service. I enjoy spending time working on my three antique vehicles...two fire trucks and a '64 VW Bug. One of my fire trucks is a Mayberry Tribute Fire Truck that is lettered for the Mayberry, NC Volunteer Fire Company. I enjoy spending a week at the Mayberry Days festival in Mt. Airy each September. My wife and I travel in our travel trailer with our two dogs.
What sort of hobbies or interests do you have?
I have created the Mayberry Volunteer Fire Company and have authored a 100 page book describing the history of the Fire Company from 1870 until 1971.
