Well Howdy, I'm a Texan, too.  This is Julie way down in South Texas.  Been a TAGS fan for about 20 years and been visiting The Taylor's Front Porch message board for close to ten now.  Looking forward to getting to know the fans here, too. :)

Hi Ken & "Floyd" Mt. Pleasant is about 60 miles from my home and about 2 months after selling my 63 squad car I got the urge to find another one. I knew this was there as I had seen the photo on your squad car page. I checked Ebay and they had just put it up for sale. It had been sitting in cold storage and the gas gauge didn't work which wasn't a big deal. What was a big deal was the tank was starting to go bad and for some reason you cannot buy a reproduction tank for a 65. You can get one for 60 - 64 and 66 on up. I had the tank removed and professionally restored and found 4 holes rusted in the frame. I had those repaired and it was great after that. To be honest I thought they lady I bought it from was from Mt. Pilot rather the Mt. Pleasant at the time. Anyway, it worked out fine and I had a lot of fun with it. I wish I could have driven it as much as Ken has as that's really what these old cars need. I miss seeing the smiles on peoples faces when they see the car. It's amazing how many young and old Mayberry fans there are. The suad 51 doesn't get the same reaction as you pretty much had to be in the EMS service to appreciate it. I was an EMT when that show was on so it's been fun to talk to folks my age that have similiar backgounds. I was even asked to bring it to Chicago this past summer for the National Firefighters Challenge and was featured along with FDNY Rescue 4 which lost it's entire crew on 9/11. Love the new site and thanks for doing this.

Hey Bob, I wondered if it was mine.  I thought it sure looked like it except for the wheels.  I am so glad you went to the black tires and original hubcaps, as that makes it so much more authentic.

That's Cool to know. So did you buy the car from Rich and Erica Martin of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa?  Then I guess Ken Anderson purchased it from you.  That's neat to see the history of Ken's car!.  By the way...nice "Squad 51" truck!

I added a note to the photo of the car listed in the album as "Rich and Erica Martin's 1965" that Ken is the current owner.

Good to meet ya, Louise.  Glad to meet more Texans.  My online Mayberry involvement has mainly been on Miss Crump's Blackboard, the message board at the website, for many years. I've received the digest off an on over the years, also.  I hope this new forum can inject something new and interesting into the online Mayberry community.

Scott, I've been a Texan for many years, since I married a Fort Worth native and we moved to Azle, TX.  I've been a member of the WBMUTBB digest for about 5, 6 years and have enjoyed Ken's comments and activities to bring a bit of Mayberry into the lives of northern folks...Floyd, we appreciate this forum for fellowship!  Over and under...
