You just can help but notice her name when you see the closing credits on TAGS.  Ruth Burch lived till her 90's if I am not mistaken.  She was in charge of casting for not only TAGS but for many, many other TV shows.  This is an important job for any show to become successful.  Just think, she would have been responsible for many of those who had parts in the show over the years.  I am sure Andy and the producers had a big part in selecting talent, but I can't help believe that Ruth was very gifted in seeking out those special people who became visitors or residents of Mayberry.  I have tried to find out more about her, but very little is available in the resources that I have tried.  Hopefully, if there is enough interest among others we can find out a little more about her.

I spoke with Ronnie Schell and Maggie Peterson about Ruth at the 2015 Mayberry Days event.  They both remembered her well. I had a photo of cast and crew from Gomery Pyle USMC ad was hoping she was in the photo , but Ronnie looked it over and although he identified many of the people in the group photo, she was not in the picture.  I was hoping that she was.  Maybe some day.
