One of the eipodes I like is 'The Stranger in Town'. I liked Ed Sayer's character and always thought he would have been a good full-time chracter on the show.
Barney had different 'Gals' before he ended up going steady with Thelam Lou. Thelma Lou was the perfect fit. Helda Mae was not in my opinion. I couldn't stand the character of Helen Crump. I always thought Peggy, the nurse, was a good fit for Andy. Helen was as awful as racoon pie sitting out in a hot sun for a week.
I think Ed Sayer would have made a good full-time character and brought more life to the show. He could been a lawyer who helped Andy and Barney in certain cases or something along those lines.
Does anyone else think Ed Sayer would have been a good full-time character? He could have married Lucy.
And please, for the those of you who are Helen Crump fans...don't throw racoon pie at me :-) I'm a Peggy fan.
G-D Bless.

Ditto on Peggy! Haven't put "your" effort into Ed Sawyer, but I do enjoy that episode. I liked Hilda Mae for what she was.
My wife loves the episode where Barney arrest the entire town while andy is away for a few hours. That's really the only episode that seems to show Hilda Mae more. She was okay but she didn't seem a good fit for Barney. Thelma Lou came across as the perfect fit. Of course I say that because I'm a huge Thelma Lou fan. Betty Lynn was a sweetheart.
In the episode where Barney gets a new car, when everyone is in the car together, Thelma Lou smiles. Oh, what a smile. Betty Lynn left behind a sweet, precious character that lives on in our hearts. I guess if she had been around when Barney arrested the town he would have arrested her too :-)
Thelma Lou better not have any women is Barney's den!!! Seriouslly, couldn't agree more about her, very few smiles can light up a room like Thel's/Betty's.
